PHYSICAL BODY: AUTISM LINKED TO VACCINES

vaccination Finally, a breakthrough federal court case proving vaccines can cause autism. 9—year—old Hannah Poling has forever changed the long and heated debate over whether vaccines can cause autism spectrum disorders. Pharmaceutical companies and studies funded by them have long held no correlation and the CDC has backed them. Parents, however, have long argued they have witnessed children fall ill after vaccinations. Hannah’s parents took her case to federal compensation court (since the Patriot Act protects pharmaceutical companies from class—action civil tort cases) and won government concession that vaccines injured her and a settlement for funds to support her financially. It helped that her father Dr. Jon Poling was a neurology resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital at the time that his daughter fell ill, and sent Hannah through a round of intensive neurological testing that bolstered her case. Her mother Terry is also adamant and vocal about what happened to her daughter. While Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has taken the view that Hannah had an underlying genetic predisposition and told the press "Let me be very clear that the government has made absolutely no statement indicating that vaccines are a cause of autism" in regard to Hannah’s settlement, Terry Poling adamantly disagrees, holding the view that vaccinations caused the mitochondrial disorder that sent Hannah spiraling into autism.
